The Best Time to Call Customers in India (By Who You Sell To)

By · Chief Executive Officer, Wappblaster

In short: Call around your customer’s day, not your office hours: salaried people answer late morning and after 7pm, shop owners in the 12-4pm lull, homemakers mid-morning and mid-afternoon. The only best time that is provably yours comes from your own connect-rate data, which your dialer already has.

Ask ten trainers the best time to call and you get ten confident answers. The honest answer is that the best hour depends on whose phone is ringing, and the only numbers you should fully trust are your own. Here is the reasoning that actually holds up, followed by how to get your own answer in a week.

Windows by customer type

Salaried employees. Mornings are commute and meetings; lunch (1-2pm) is possible but rushed. The reliable windows are 11am-1pm for a quick first touch and 7-9pm for real conversations, once they are home. Weekend mornings work for bigger decisions (insurance, property, courses) that need an unhurried head.

Shop and small business owners. Their morning is your worst enemy: opening, staff, suppliers. Call in the 12-4pm lull between the morning rush and the evening one. After 8pm they are counting the till; leave them alone.

Homemakers. 10:30am-12:30pm (after the school-and-kitchen rush) and 3-5pm (before the family returns). Evening calls compete with the busiest hours of the house.

Students and parents (coaching, admissions). Students answer after classes, 5-8pm. But for anything paid, the parent decides, so the real call is an evening call to the parent, often best pre-announced by a WhatsApp in the afternoon.

Farmers and rural customers. Early morning (8-10am) and early evening; midday is field time in most seasons.

Hours that hurt you everywhere

  • Before 9:30am and after 9pm: a stranger calling at these hours reads as rude or suspicious, and irritated people are the ones who mark numbers as spam.
  • Exactly 1-2pm for anyone office-bound: answered, but distracted, “call me later” without meaning it.
  • Festival days and result days: connect rates collapse; use those days for WhatsApp instead.

The one exception that beats every window

A fresh enquiry beats the clock. Someone who filled your form three minutes ago will answer at any reasonable hour, because you are the call they are expecting. Speed-to-lead matters more than any timing chart; save the charts for cold lists and follow-ups.

Stop guessing: measure your own best hour

Every business above differs, and yours differs again. The good news: if your calls run through a dialer that logs outcomes, the data already exists.

  1. For one week, run your auto dialer sessions in two different windows, half the list each.
  2. Compare connected rate and talk time per window in your call analytics, not “how it felt”.
  3. Keep the winning window, test it against a new challenger next week. Two weeks of this beats any generic chart, including this one.

And whatever hour wins: when a call ends with “call me tomorrow at 11”, tomorrow at 11 is the best time to call that exists anywhere. It just needs a reminder that actually rings.

Questions

Questions people ask about this

What is the best time to call customers in India?

Call around your customer's day, not your office hours. Salaried people answer late morning and after 7pm, shop owners in the 12 to 4pm lull, and homemakers mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Those are starting points rather than rules.

How do I find the best calling time for my own business?

Stop guessing and measure your own connect rate by hour. Your call data already knows which hour connects best for your customer type, and the only best time that is provably yours is the one your own numbers show. Any dialer worth using reports connect rates by hour.

How do I assign leads to telecallers automatically?

Import or connect the lead source once, then turn on round-robin assignment: each new lead goes to the next active employee in rotation, their phone pings, and the lead appears in their assigned queue with the auto dialer ready. Managers can reassign or transfer a lead any time and the transfer history stays on the record.

Why do telecallers stop using the CRM?

Because a separate CRM means typing after every call, and on a busy day the typing is the first thing dropped. The fix is a CRM that lives inside the dialer: the call creates the record, the outcome is two taps on the after-call screen, and the follow-up is set in the same motion. When updating the CRM costs nothing extra, it stays updated.

What is lead management software for telecallers?

Software that turns every phone number into a lead with a source, a status, custom fields and a history, and keeps that record in front of the telecaller while they call. Inside a dialer it means the caller sees the lead before saying hello, updates it in two taps after the call, and never types the same information twice.

How do I stop forgetting sales follow-ups?

Set the follow-up at the moment you promise it, from the after-call screen, in one tap ("tomorrow", "Sunday 11 am"), and use an app that rings like an alarm at that time with the call-back button and the customer's history on it. A follow-up that lives in a diary or a spreadsheet depends on someone remembering to look; one that rings does not.

What is an auto dialer app?

An auto dialer app calls a list of phone numbers one after another so the caller never types a number. On Android, an app like RMDialer runs the session on the phone itself using the SIM already in it: you pick a list from Excel, a Google Sheet, an API or assigned leads, press start, and the app dials each number in turn while you mark the outcome between calls.

What is a telecalling CRM?

A telecalling CRM is customer software built around phone calls: the lead list, the dialer, the call outcome and the follow-up live in one place. The mobile kind, such as RMDialer, replaces the Android phone app on each rep's handset so every call automatically becomes a record with a status, a remark and the next follow-up, and the manager sees the whole team on a web dashboard.

What is the difference between telecalling software and a CRM?

Telecalling software is built to make and track calls (dialing lists, call logs, per-caller reports). A CRM is built to hold customer records and pipeline stages. Most Indian sales teams need both at once, which is why a telecalling CRM combines them: the call itself creates and updates the customer record, so nobody types into a separate system after the call.

What is a CRM dialer?

A CRM dialer is a single app where the dialer and the customer record are the same thing: the call screen shows the lead, and ending the call updates it. It differs from a CRM with "dialer integration", which is two products joined by a sync. RMDialer is a CRM dialer for Android that runs on the user's own SIM.

Does RMDialer work on iPhone?

No. RMDialer is an Android app because iOS does not let a third-party app replace the phone dialer, read the call log or place calls automatically. It supports Android 8.0 and above. The owner's Web CRM works in any browser, including Safari on a Mac or iPhone.

How long does it take to set up a telecalling app for a team?

About an hour for a small team. Each person installs the app from the Play Store, signs in with the team account and sets it as the default phone app. The owner adds users on the Web CRM, imports the first lead list from Excel and assigns it. Most teams make their first auto-dialled calls the same day.

How does an auto dialer work on a mobile phone?

The app becomes the phone's dialer, reads a list you give it and places each call over the SIM the same way you would by hand, only without the typing. After each call it waits a few seconds (the gap you set), shows a two-tap outcome sheet, then dials the next number. Busy and unanswered numbers can be retried automatically at the end of the list.

Which is the best auto dialer app for Android in India?

For small and mid-sized Indian teams the best fit is a SIM-based auto dialer that runs on the phones they already own, because customers answer normal mobile numbers and there is no per-minute bill. RMDialer, Runo, GoDial, Calley and NeoDove all offer this; they differ on whether a CRM, WhatsApp automation and team reports are included in the same price.

Can I auto dial numbers from an Excel sheet?

Yes. Save the sheet as Excel or CSV with a mobile number column (name and any other columns are optional), import it in the app, and start a session. The dialer calls the rows in order and lets you mark each outcome. The same works from a Google Sheet, which can also be connected as a live source so new rows import themselves.

  • “Telecaller app for Android that my staff actually use. Enquiry list is assigned to each telecaller, the auto dialer calls it from their own SIM, and test ride bookings come to me live. Punjabi interface for the girls at the desk. Price is honest, everything included, no per-user surprises.”
Harpreet Singh Owner · Two-wheeler showroom Ludhiana
  • “We needed an auto dialer app that works on our own MTN and Airtel lines, not a call centre subscription in dollars. RMDialer runs on the phones my agents already have, dials the enquiry list, and the WhatsApp follow-up goes out after every call. Works even when the network drops and syncs later.”
Grace Okafor Managing director · Travel agency Lagos, Nigeria
  • “We looked for telecalling software for a nine-person loan team and every quote came with cloud seats and per-minute bills. RMDialer telecalling software runs on the callers' own Jio SIMs: the lead list dials itself, the remark goes on the number, and I get dials, connects and talk time per caller every evening. Cost is one flat price per user.”
Kavita Iyer Operations head · Loan DSA Chennai
  • “Earlier I was dialling 80 to 100 portal leads a day by hand from Excel. With RMDialer auto dialer app I import the sheet, press start and it calls one by one from my own Jio SIM. Between calls I mark Interested or Site visit in two taps and the follow-up rings me on time. Closed 3 flats last month from leads I would have forgotten.”
Rakesh Choudhary Real estate consultant · Property advisory Jaipur
  • “We tried two telecalling CRM software before this and my counsellors stopped filling them within a week. RMDialer is the phone app itself, so every admission enquiry gets logged whether they like it or not. The auto WhatsApp after call sends the fee structure by itself. I see all 4 counsellors' calls on the web CRM every evening.”
