Telecalling, auto dialer and CRM glossary: 52 terms defined

The RMDialer glossary: 52 words the telecalling, auto dialer, CRM and WhatsApp vendors, regulators and gurus use, each defined plainly, each with its own page, each linking to the full story where one exists. Definitions checked 2 September 2026.

Dialing

Auto dialer
Software that dials phone numbers from a list automatically, one after another, so the caller never types a number and only does the talking. Also searched as automatic call dialer, automatic phone dialer or auto calling app: same tool, same category. Full meaning → Full explainer →
Power dialer (progressive dialer)
An auto dialer that dials exactly one number per free agent, the moment their previous call ends. Every answered call meets a human instantly, so there are no abandoned calls. Full meaning → vs auto dialer →
Predictive dialer
A call-centre dialer that rings more numbers than there are free agents, using statistics to predict answer rates. It maximises agent talk time at scale, at the cost of some answered calls meeting silence. Full meaning → Real costs →
Parallel dialer
A dialer that rings 2-5 numbers simultaneously for one rep and connects whoever answers first, dropping the rest. It buys dial volume with abandoned calls. Full meaning → Examined honestly →
Preview dialer
A dialer that shows the agent the lead’s record and waits for them to trigger each call: maximum preparation, minimum speed, right for high-value low-volume calling. Full meaning →
SIM-based dialing
Auto dialing that runs on an ordinary Android phone through its own SIM: the customer sees a real local number, calls cost normal operator rates, and no cloud telephony is involved. Full meaning → The architecture →
Click-to-call
A button that dials the number shown on a screen (in a CRM or website). It removes typing from single calls; it does not manage a queue, which is what separates it from an auto dialer. Full meaning → The difference →
Auto redial
A consumer utility that calls the SAME busy number repeatedly until it connects (railway counters, customer care). Different tool from an auto dialer, which works through a list of different numbers. Full meaning → Same words, opposite tools →
Robocall / voice broadcast
Automated calls that play a recorded message to whoever answers, with no human on the caller’s side. Regulated as bulk promotion in India; useful for transactional alerts at scale, wrong for selling. Full meaning → vs auto dialer →
Dial gap
The configured pause between one call ending and the next dialing in an auto-dial session: 6-10 seconds for real selling, enough to save the outcome and breathe. Full meaning → Settings guide →
Connect rate
The percentage of dials that reach a live human. It is decided mainly by number reputation, list freshness and calling windows, and it multiplies the value of everything else a calling team does. Full meaning → The 5 levers →
Abandoned call
A call answered by a human that the dialing system drops or leaves silent, typically because a predictive or parallel dialer over-dialed. A key driver of spam-flagging. Full meaning →
Talk time
The total minutes a caller spends in actual conversation per day: the irreducible core of calling work that no dialer can compress, and the honest ceiling on daily call counts. Full meaning → The real math →

CRM & leads

CRM
Customer Relationship Management software: a business’s shared memory of every customer: who they are, what was said, what was promised, what they bought, and what happens next. Full meaning → Plain-language guide →
CRM dialer
A phone dialer and CRM in one app: every call opens with the customer’s record on screen and ends by updating it in two taps, so the CRM fills itself from the calls. Also searched as sales dialer, dialer CRM, or CRM with built-in dialer. Full meaning → The category page →
Telecalling CRM
A CRM built around phone calls rather than desktop work: calling lists, records on the call screen, two-tap outcomes and per-caller reporting. Full meaning → In depth →
Lead
A person or business that has shown interest but not yet bought: an enquiry, a form fill, a walk-in, a referral: recorded with a source, a status and a next step. Full meaning →
Lead status
The stage a lead currently sits in (New, Interested, Quoted, Customer, Lost). Statuses turn a pile of contacts into a visible pipeline and drive lists, follow-ups and reports. Full meaning →
Pipeline
All leads arranged by status: the at-a-glance answer to “where is everything?” A pipeline is only as true as the statuses set after each call. Full meaning →
Follow-up
The promised next contact: “call Thursday at 11”. Kept follow-ups are where most sales actually close; a follow-up system’s only real test is whether it RINGS at the promised time. Full meaning → How many before giving up →
Remark
The one-line note saved the moment a call ends (“wants the bigger model, deciding Sunday”). The remark is what makes the NEXT call a continuation instead of a restart. Full meaning →
Speed to lead
The time between a lead arriving and a human contacting them. Interest decays in minutes: response inside the first minutes multiplies contact and conversion rates. Full meaning → Why minutes decide sales →
Lead source
Where a lead came from (Facebook ad, JustDial, referral, walk-in), tagged on the record. Source tags are what let month-end say which marketing channel actually produces buyers. Full meaning → Source tracking →
Dedup (deduplication)
Merging repeat entries of the same phone number into one record with its history intact, so an existing customer never gets treated as a stranger by a new list. Full meaning →
Lead revival (win-back)
Systematically re-contacting leads that went quiet 60-90 days ago with a fresh trigger. Revival lists close deals at near-zero acquisition cost because the interest already existed. Full meaning →
Custom fields
Business-specific fields added to a lead record: budget, crop, policy number, roof size: so the record carries exactly the facts the next call needs. Full meaning →

WhatsApp for business

WhatsApp Business API
Meta’s programmatic WhatsApp channel for businesses: automation, bulk template campaigns, team inboxes and delivery reports. It has no app of its own; software sends through it. Full meaning → App vs API →
Template message
A pre-approved message format the API uses to start conversations at scale, with variables per contact. Approval is what keeps bulk sending inside WhatsApp’s rules. Full meaning → Examples that pass →
Broadcast (WhatsApp)
The free app’s send-to-many feature: capped small, and delivered only to people who saved your number. Real scale belongs to API campaigns, which have neither limit. Full meaning → Broadcast vs bulk →
Quality rating
Meta’s health score for an API number, driven by blocks and reports from recipients. It gates your sending limits: too many annoyed recipients and the number’s reach shrinks. Full meaning →
Green tick (verified badge)
Meta’s verification mark for notable businesses on the API. It is granted free by Meta after review: no vendor can sell a guaranteed tick. Full meaning → Process & myths →
Opt-in
The customer’s recorded consent to receive WhatsApp messages from you: by enquiring, transacting or subscribing. Consent-first lists are what keep numbers unbanned and campaigns deliverable. Full meaning → How to collect it →
Auto WhatsApp
Messages that send themselves on events: a call ending, a lead status changing, a sale: so the promised details arrive while interest is at its peak. Full meaning → How it works →

Numbers & compliance (India)

DND (Do Not Disturb)
TRAI’s registry letting any subscriber block promotional communication. It restricts unsolicited promotion: service calls to your own customers about their own business remain ordinary calling. Full meaning → What you can and cannot do →
TCCCP / TRAI regulations
India’s telecom commercial-communication rules: the framework behind DND, telemarketer registration and the 140 series, aimed at unsolicited promotion, not relationship calling. Full meaning →
140 number series
The phone prefix TRAI reserves for registered telemarketers making promotional calls, so recipients (and their phones) know what the call is before answering. Full meaning → Does your business need it? →
UCC (Unsolicited Commercial Communication)
The regulatory term for promotional calls and messages to people with no relationship to the sender: the specific thing DND, DLT registration and the 140 series exist to control. Full meaning →
Spam flagging
Caller-ID systems (Truecaller, Android screening) labelling a number as spam based on how strangers react to its calls: rejections, blocks, reports. It silently destroys connect rates. Full meaning → How to stay clean →
Caller ID name
The name a customer’s phone shows when you call, crowd-sourced by apps like Truecaller unless you claim and correct it. It is your first impression on every new customer. Full meaning → Control what they see →
Do-not-call status
A permanent mark on a customer record that excludes the number from every future list and dial session. Honouring it instantly and forever is both law and brand. Full meaning →

Operations & infrastructure

Telecalling
Doing business over ordinary phone calls, systematically: working lists of leads and customers to sell, follow up, collect or support. India’s word for the calling half of commerce. Full meaning → The complete guide →
Telecaller
The person doing structured business calling. Their real output is not dials but recorded outcomes: who said what, who buys next, who gets called when. Full meaning → 10 skills that matter →
Telemarketing
The cold-outreach slice of phone work: promotional calls to strangers: the part regulators register and caller-ID apps punish. Distinct from relationship telecalling. Full meaning → vs telecalling vs telesales →
Cloud telephony
Business calling hosted on a provider’s servers: virtual numbers, IVR, queues, recording, dashboards: billed per seat plus per minute. Right for high inbound volume and compulsory recording. Full meaning → And when you don’t need it →
IVR
“Press 1 for sales”: menus that answer and route incoming calls without a human. Call-centre infrastructure that small businesses often buy when their real problem was remembering customers. Full meaning →
Virtual number
A phone number that exists in software rather than a SIM, routed wherever its owner configures. Flexible for teams: and increasingly screened by Indian phones on outbound calls. Full meaning → When a SIM is better →
VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol: calls travelling as data instead of cellular voice. The transport underneath cloud telephony, with its costs and its answer-rate consequences in mobile-first markets. Full meaning → SIM vs VoIP →
Call management
Turning every business call into a record: caller identified before answering, outcome saved after, follow-up scheduled, and per-person reporting: the record system, as opposed to call routing. Full meaning → The category page →
Missed-call queue
A list where unreturned missed calls wait until someone deals with them: instead of scrolling away in call history. The single highest-intent lead list most businesses ignore. Full meaning → The return-call system →
NDR (Non-Delivery Report)
In D2C shipping, the courier’s “could not deliver” flag that starts a short clock toward return-to-origin. A same-day rescue call fixes most NDRs while the package is still in the city. Full meaning → The D2C calling system →
RTO (Return to Origin)
A shipped order returning undelivered: the D2C margin killer, paying freight both ways to sell nothing. COD confirmation calls before dispatch are its cheapest cure. Full meaning →
Offline-first
Software that keeps the full working copy on the device: records open, update and remind with zero network, syncing when signal returns. The difference between a tool and a spinner on Indian networks. Full meaning → Why it wins →

Harpreet Singh Owner · Two-wheeler showroom Ludhiana
  • “We needed an auto dialer app that works on our own MTN and Airtel lines, not a call centre subscription in dollars. RMDialer runs on the phones my agents already have, dials the enquiry list, and the WhatsApp follow-up goes out after every call. Works even when the network drops and syncs later.”
Grace Okafor Managing director · Travel agency Lagos, Nigeria
  • “We looked for telecalling software for a nine-person loan team and every quote came with cloud seats and per-minute bills. RMDialer telecalling software runs on the callers' own Jio SIMs: the lead list dials itself, the remark goes on the number, and I get dials, connects and talk time per caller every evening. Cost is one flat price per user.”
Kavita Iyer Operations head · Loan DSA Chennai
  • “Earlier I was dialling 80 to 100 portal leads a day by hand from Excel. With RMDialer auto dialer app I import the sheet, press start and it calls one by one from my own Jio SIM. Between calls I mark Interested or Site visit in two taps and the follow-up rings me on time. Closed 3 flats last month from leads I would have forgotten.”
Rakesh Choudhary Real estate consultant · Property advisory Jaipur
  • “We tried two telecalling CRM software before this and my counsellors stopped filling them within a week. RMDialer is the phone app itself, so every admission enquiry gets logged whether they like it or not. The auto WhatsApp after call sends the fee structure by itself. I see all 4 counsellors' calls on the web CRM every evening.”
Priya Nair Owner · Coaching institute Kochi
  • “Bulk calling app was the search that brought me here. 300 dealer numbers pasted from Excel, SIM 2 selected, 6 second gap, and my two boys finished the list in a day and a half. Busy numbers got retried by itself. Earlier same list used to take a week with a notebook.”

Questions

About RMDialer, in short

Updated on

What is RMDialer?

RMDialer is an auto dialer app and telecalling CRM for Android that dials from the user's own SIM, shows the customer's lead status and last note on incoming and ringing calls, and automates WhatsApp follow-ups. It works as a telecaller app for one person and as a sales dialer for teams, with lead automation, a lead management CRM and per-employee call tracking.

How much does RMDialer cost?

₹159 per user per month on yearly billing or ₹249 per user per month on the 3-month plan, plus taxes, in India; $29 per user per year, or $12 per user for 3 months, outside India. Every feature is included in every plan, and there is a free 3-day trial with no credit card.

Where do I download the RMDialer app?

RMDialer is on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wappblaster.rmdialer. It runs on Android 8 or newer, and you can start the free 3-day trial immediately after installing.

Does RMDialer need a cloud number or call centre setup?

No. RMDialer dials through the SIM already in the phone, so customers see your normal number, there are no per-minute charges, and no IVR or hardware is needed. Reports, lead assignment and the Web CRM work from any browser.

Does RMDialer work outside India and in other languages?

Yes. The app runs in 40 languages and dials from any country's SIM; international numbers keep their own country code. Pricing outside India is $29 per user per year, or $12 per user for 3 months, outside India.

Can a team use RMDialer, and what does the owner see?

Yes. Each telecaller uses RMDialer on their own phone, leads are assigned round-robin or by hand, and the owner sees every call, connected call, talk time, status and follow-up per person per day without asking for reports.

What is a SIM-based dialer and how is it different from cloud telephony?

A SIM-based dialer places calls from the SIM in the user's own phone, so the customer sees a normal mobile number and the call costs whatever the operator plan charges. Cloud telephony routes calls through a virtual number on a server and bills per user plus per minute, in return for features like IVR and recording. For outbound sales on mobile numbers, SIM calling gets answered more often and costs far less.

How much does an auto dialer app cost in India?

SIM-based auto dialer apps in India cost roughly ₹150 to ₹500 per user per month; cloud dialers with virtual numbers start higher and add per-minute charges. RMDialer is ₹159 per user per month on the yearly plan, plus taxes, with the auto dialer, lead CRM, WhatsApp automation, team reports and the Web CRM all included in that one price.

Is there a free trial and do I need a credit card?

Yes, 3 days with every feature unlocked for the whole team, and no card is needed. Install from the Play Store, sign in, and the trial starts. At the end you choose the 3-month or the yearly plan from inside the app or on the pricing page.

Is there a discount for yearly billing?

Yes. The yearly plan works out cheaper per month than the 3-month plan, and both include every feature: auto dialer, lead CRM, WhatsApp automation, follow-ups, analytics, team reports and the Web CRM. There are no add-on tiers, so the per-user price is the whole price.

What is the difference between a power dialer and a predictive dialer?

A power dialer calls one number at a time for one agent and waits for that call to end, so every answered call has a person ready. A predictive dialer calls several numbers at once and connects the ones that answer to whichever agent is free, which needs a call-centre server and causes dropped "silent" calls. Mobile auto dialers like RMDialer are power dialers on a SIM.

Do I need a virtual number to run a calling team?

No. A virtual number is only needed when calls must be routed through a cloud platform, for example for an inbound IVR. An outbound sales team can run entirely on business SIMs in the reps' phones, with the app logging every call and the owner reading the reports. Customers also answer known mobile numbers more readily than unfamiliar virtual ones.

Why do customers not answer calls from virtual numbers?

Because caller ID apps and phone dialers increasingly flag pooled virtual and VoIP numbers as spam or business calls, and because the same virtual number is often used for many campaigns. A real mobile number from a local SIM looks like a person calling, which is why SIM-based dialers report higher connect rates in India.

Can I use two SIMs for business calling on one phone?

Yes. On a dual-SIM Android phone the dialer lets you choose which SIM makes each call, or set a default business SIM for all sessions. You can also decide which SIM's calls are backed up and reported, so personal calls on the other SIM stay out of the team account.

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost in India?

Meta charges per conversation, roughly ₹0.11 to ₹0.80 depending on the category (marketing costs the most, service conversations started by the customer are free within a window). Providers add a platform fee. RMDialer does not charge extra to connect an API you already have; you pay Meta or your provider directly for messages.
