Insurance Telecalling Script: Renewals, Leads & the Trust Problem

By · Managing Director, Wappblaster

In short: Insurance scripts work in reverse order from other sales: establish that you are not the stereotype first (their existing policy, their renewal date, their claim: facts only you would know), then need, then product. Renewal calls should open with service, lead calls with the customer’s own trigger, and every promise of "no pressure" must be structurally true: a named follow-up, not a push.

Insurance telecalling starts from minus ten: decades of pushy calls have taught every Indian customer that an insurance call is a trap until proven otherwise. So insurance scripts work in reverse: prove you are not the stereotype first, and the proof is specificity: facts about THEIR policy, THEIR dates, THEIR family cover that no random caller would know. (The system behind these calls has its own page; this is the script layer.)

Call 1: The renewal call (your bread, butter and moat)

Timed 7 days before due, per the 30-7-1 ladder, with the policy details on your call screen:

“Namaste [name] ji, [your name], aapka [company] advisor. Aapki [policy type] policy: jo [family member] ke naam pe hai: uska renewal [date] ko aa raha hai. Premium wahi ₹[amount] hai. Sab theek chal raha hai ghar pe?”

Notice the order: their policy, their family member, their date: three proofs of relationship before any ask. Then:

  • Simple renewal: “Main aisa karta hoon: renewal ka link WhatsApp pe bhejta hoon, aap [date] se pehle kar dijiyega taaki cover break na ho. Nominee ya address mein koi change ho to abhi bata dijiye, saath mein update kar doonga.”
  • The honest upsell moment (only if true): “Ek cheez dhyaan mein aayi: [genuine gap: beti ka cover nahi hai / sum assured income ke hisaab se kam hai]. Aaj nahi, lekin renewal ke baad 10 minute baat karni chahiye is pe. [Day] ko call karoon?”

Call 2: The fresh lead call

Their trigger, not your product, opens:

“[name] ji, namaste, [your name] from [company]. Aapne [portal/form] pe [term plan / health cover] ke baare mein enquiry ki thi: speed matters most here. Yeh aap pehli baar le rahe hain ya existing policy ke saath compare kar rahe hain?”

Both answers are gold: first-timers need education (longer call, more trust, better client); comparers tell you the competitor and the gap. Qualify with care questions, not product questions:

  • “Ghar mein kaun kaun depend karta hai aap pe, [name] ji?”
  • “Health cover company se mila hua hai, ya apna personal bhi hai?”
  • “Budget monthly soch rahe hain ya yearly one-time?”

The anti-stereotype close (this line does more than any pitch):

“[name] ji, main aaj kuch sell nahi kar raha. Aap details dekhiye jo main WhatsApp pe bhej raha hoon, family se baat kariye, aur [day] ko main call karke sirf sawaalon ke jawab doonga. Theek hai?”

Then the details go instantly and the call lands on the named day: the “no pressure” promise kept mechanically is what separates an advisor from the stereotype.

Call 3: The lapsed-policy revival

“[name] ji, [your name], aapka advisor. Aapki [policy] [month] mein lapse ho gayi thi: main isliye call kar raha hoon ki [revival window abhi khula hai / bina naye medical ke revive ho sakti hai [date] tak]. Uske baad naya policy lena padega jo mehenga padega. 5 minute mein poora option samjha doon?”

Lapse calls are service calls wearing sales clothes: lead with what THEY lose by waiting, never with your commission’s grief.

The compliance spine (non-negotiable lines)

  • Identify yourself and your company in the first breath, every call.
  • Never guarantee returns on market-linked products; “returns market ke hisaab se hain” is the sentence that keeps licences.
  • Record the customer’s stated needs in the remark: “needs: term 1Cr, budget 2k/month, has corporate health”: suitability documented is both good advice and self-protection.
  • “Do not call” means a permanent status, honoured forever, no exceptions.

The pattern under all three scripts: insurance is sold twice: once against the product’s competitors, and once against the industry’s reputation. Specific facts, kept promises and on-time renewal calls win the second sale, and the second sale is the career.

The renewal calendar (T-30, T-7, T-1), the two pipelines and the WhatsApp templates that go with this script are on the telecalling app for insurance agents page.

Questions

Questions people ask about this

What should an insurance telecalling script say?

Insurance scripts work in reverse order from other sales. Establish first that you are not the stereotype, using facts only you would know such as their existing policy, renewal date or claim, then move to need, and only then to product. Leading with the product is what gets you hung up on.

How should a policy renewal call open?

With the specific fact that proves this is a service call rather than a cold pitch: their policy, its renewal date, and what changes if it lapses. That framing gets a hearing, and the cross-sell, if there is one, belongs later in the same call.

How do I assign leads to telecallers automatically?

Import or connect the lead source once, then turn on round-robin assignment: each new lead goes to the next active employee in rotation, their phone pings, and the lead appears in their assigned queue with the auto dialer ready. Managers can reassign or transfer a lead any time and the transfer history stays on the record.

Why do telecallers stop using the CRM?

Because a separate CRM means typing after every call, and on a busy day the typing is the first thing dropped. The fix is a CRM that lives inside the dialer: the call creates the record, the outcome is two taps on the after-call screen, and the follow-up is set in the same motion. When updating the CRM costs nothing extra, it stays updated.

What is lead management software for telecallers?

Software that turns every phone number into a lead with a source, a status, custom fields and a history, and keeps that record in front of the telecaller while they call. Inside a dialer it means the caller sees the lead before saying hello, updates it in two taps after the call, and never types the same information twice.

How do I stop forgetting sales follow-ups?

Set the follow-up at the moment you promise it, from the after-call screen, in one tap ("tomorrow", "Sunday 11 am"), and use an app that rings like an alarm at that time with the call-back button and the customer's history on it. A follow-up that lives in a diary or a spreadsheet depends on someone remembering to look; one that rings does not.

What is a telecalling CRM?

A telecalling CRM is customer software built around phone calls: the lead list, the dialer, the call outcome and the follow-up live in one place. The mobile kind, such as RMDialer, replaces the Android phone app on each rep's handset so every call automatically becomes a record with a status, a remark and the next follow-up, and the manager sees the whole team on a web dashboard.

What is the difference between telecalling software and a CRM?

Telecalling software is built to make and track calls (dialing lists, call logs, per-caller reports). A CRM is built to hold customer records and pipeline stages. Most Indian sales teams need both at once, which is why a telecalling CRM combines them: the call itself creates and updates the customer record, so nobody types into a separate system after the call.

What is a CRM dialer?

A CRM dialer is a single app where the dialer and the customer record are the same thing: the call screen shows the lead, and ending the call updates it. It differs from a CRM with "dialer integration", which is two products joined by a sync. RMDialer is a CRM dialer for Android that runs on the user's own SIM.

How long does it take to set up a telecalling app for a team?

About an hour for a small team. Each person installs the app from the Play Store, signs in with the team account and sets it as the default phone app. The owner adds users on the Web CRM, imports the first lead list from Excel and assigns it. Most teams make their first auto-dialled calls the same day.

Do I need a virtual number to run a calling team?

No. A virtual number is only needed when calls must be routed through a cloud platform, for example for an inbound IVR. An outbound sales team can run entirely on business SIMs in the reps' phones, with the app logging every call and the owner reading the reports. Customers also answer known mobile numbers more readily than unfamiliar virtual ones.

Can a telecalling CRM work for a team working from home?

Yes. Each rep installs the app on their own Android phone with the business SIM, and every call they make from home is logged and synced exactly as it would be in the office. The owner sees calls, talk time and outcomes per person on the Web CRM, and leads are assigned remotely, so a distributed team runs like a single desk.

How to send a WhatsApp message automatically after a call?

Use a dialer with auto WhatsApp: set a message once per call type (missed, incoming, outgoing) and per lead status, and the app sends it the moment the call ends, personalised with the customer's name. From the user's own number it opens WhatsApp with the message ready; through the WhatsApp Business API it sends with zero taps.

What is a WhatsApp CRM?

A WhatsApp CRM keeps customer chats next to the customer record, so a conversation, its call history, lead status and follow-ups are one file instead of a chat on someone's phone. Built into a dialer, it lets a team reply from the same app they call from, send media and templates, see read receipts, and keep the chat when the employee leaves.

What is the best follow-up reminder app for sales calls?

The best one is the one inside the dialer you already call from, because the reminder is set at the end of the call and rings with the customer's record attached. Standalone reminder apps and calendar alerts work for one person but lose the link to the call and cannot report follow-ups per employee to a manager.

  • “Telecaller app for Android that my staff actually use. Enquiry list is assigned to each telecaller, the auto dialer calls it from their own SIM, and test ride bookings come to me live. Punjabi interface for the girls at the desk. Price is honest, everything included, no per-user surprises.”
Harpreet Singh Owner · Two-wheeler showroom Ludhiana
  • “We needed an auto dialer app that works on our own MTN and Airtel lines, not a call centre subscription in dollars. RMDialer runs on the phones my agents already have, dials the enquiry list, and the WhatsApp follow-up goes out after every call. Works even when the network drops and syncs later.”
Grace Okafor Managing director · Travel agency Lagos, Nigeria
  • “We looked for telecalling software for a nine-person loan team and every quote came with cloud seats and per-minute bills. RMDialer telecalling software runs on the callers' own Jio SIMs: the lead list dials itself, the remark goes on the number, and I get dials, connects and talk time per caller every evening. Cost is one flat price per user.”
Kavita Iyer Operations head · Loan DSA Chennai
  • “Earlier I was dialling 80 to 100 portal leads a day by hand from Excel. With RMDialer auto dialer app I import the sheet, press start and it calls one by one from my own Jio SIM. Between calls I mark Interested or Site visit in two taps and the follow-up rings me on time. Closed 3 flats last month from leads I would have forgotten.”
Rakesh Choudhary Real estate consultant · Property advisory Jaipur
  • “We tried two telecalling CRM software before this and my counsellors stopped filling them within a week. RMDialer is the phone app itself, so every admission enquiry gets logged whether they like it or not. The auto WhatsApp after call sends the fee structure by itself. I see all 4 counsellors' calls on the web CRM every evening.”
